The Easy Way to Do Lawn Thatching on a Yearly Basis

September 1st, 2011

Possibly one of the easiest ways to do lawn thatching up on a yearly basis, is to do it by using a lawnmower blade attachment. Lawnmower blade attachments, are often referred to as dethatching blades. These blades will attach quickly and will easily replace the existing blade on your lawnmower. The reason why this such a good idea to use them, is because once you buy them, you never have to spend any more money to do lawn thatching. Plus, you never have to travel all the way to a rental shop, just to rent a power rake.

Lawn thatching can help you get rid of unwanted lawn debris and dead grasses that are building up in your yard. Thatching your lawn on a regular basis can help it look its best, and also make it more resistant to diseases and problems with insects. This is because diseases and insect problems often start with an unhealthy layer of thatch in your lawn.

A Communal Garden and So Much to Do

August 4th, 2011

I recently moved into a housing co-op where we have a communal garden that has a lovely gazebo in the centre of it; however this garden needs a truck load of work but is great on a sunny day! (and my dog loves it). It seems only a few people ever do any work on it but since I can sit out there all day and no one else comes out I’m not overly surprised. There are a few vegetable beds already going, a greenhouse full of tomatoes a nice enough lawn (its actually very nice as its surrounded by semi wild flowers and its not just grass, its only semi nice because there’s a lot of work around it that needs doing!!!). There is a lot of bindweed that needs dealing with and also something called Japanese Knotweed which I’ve never come across before but from what I’ve been told you actually have to report to the local council because it’s so difficult to get rid of and prolific (like bindweed it can grow from just a tiny piece being left in the ground).

Wind Chimes: More Than Decorations

June 28th, 2011

In the Midwest, tornadoes and storms are more than just another news item. They are a way of life, and for the Midwesterners, wind chimes are more than just a decoration.

Back in the days of old, last century, there really wasn’t any way to tell the weather, as they did not have all the electronic equipment that we have today. But, for those who were young and healthy, they would put up wind chimes to tell how much of a wind was coming. So, take a tip from the settlers, and put up your wind chimes. They just might save your life.

So save your life and the lives of your friends, family and others. Order wind chimes on the internet today at ecommerce sites. And order extra sets for your special loved ones to help them with early warning musical signals in advance, too. Use Paypal or a credit card to pay.

All About Community Gardens

June 22nd, 2011

This community garden project is highly successful in specific states. Of course, it becomes more of a pain in the neck in other areas too. This is due to the lack of involvement of the local community in the garden. The successful community allotments create such a setting and ambience, fresh, a breeze of natural air, beautiful and just plain alluring. It certainly brightens up the dull huge cities. In these cases, the community is more than happy to get involved in growing and developing the garden plot to be more beautiful each day. Most of the time the community gardens are let out to the parties that like gardening, and some are taken care of by professional growers. Nevertheless, they grow various broad bean varieties.

As you can see, these common gardens, allotment gardens and community gardens are often popular not just in farming areas but in big cities too. You can really see the difference, both in the landscaping view and the fresh air surrounding these community gardens. Hence, you can see how beneficial a community garden is to your community and yourself. Anyone and any neighborhood can start it, regardless of space and location.

General Hydroponics and Your Garden

June 16th, 2011

Designing anything on your own can be a nightmare to say the least. The same goes when designing your own hydroponic systems for use with your plants. This is because there are many factors that go into building your own garden system. Choosing the right equipment is necessary to get the entire system to work properly. Getting information and help will also help speed up the process. This can be a time saver in many situations.

When you are done building your own system, care must be taken to ensure that the right nutrients are used for your new system. This is because the wrong nutrient can clog your system making it useless. This is why I started using General Hydroponics for all of my indoor grow rooms. These nutrients are triple filtered reducing the chances of having any clogs or nutrient buildup. The buildup is usually what ends up damaging your system.

Get Gazebo Replacement Covers

June 6th, 2011

If you have a gazebo, then you will eventually have to look for some gazebo replacement covers. The tops will eventually wear out due to the weather and having a cover that is ripped or falling apart doesn’t look very appealing. These covers can vary in cost but typically, you can find them for under $100. Obviously, there are different materials that you can buy and the ones that are of higher quality will typically cost more. So should you go for the cheap ones or spend more money and get a higher quality one? This really depends on how often you use your gazebo as well as what you use it for. If it’s just to get some shading during the summer, then a cheap one will be fine. If you are using your gazebo to actually enhance the appearance of your yard however, then it might make sense to spend a bit more on quality.

Definitely a Good Decision

April 28th, 2011

While looking to make general improvements to our yard, we decided on a plastic shed a few weeks ago. Looking back, I think it’s one of the best investments we could have possibly made. We’ve got a rather large property, and all of our tools are generally stored in the garage, which is way out front. That means that if you’re working in the back, you’ve got to trudge all the way out to the front yard each and every time you need to get a tool. I wanted to have something centralized in the backyard in which I could store tools and things of that nature that was located in the back. So, we tried out a reasonably-sized plastic shed, and since then, the productivity with regards to working on the yard has skyrocketed. It’s not just that we save time keeping the tools back there, it’s that we’re inspired by the fact that we don’t have to waste that extra energy getting to the front.
