The character of Hamlet has perhaps embedded the name of Shakespeare in the realms of English literature, as this character alone has succeeded in capturing a variety of moods. Hamlet has also mastered the roles of equally different people, their feelings, sentiments and depiction of an equally varied number of situations in an individual's life. The following paper will however limits its discussion on the specific features of Hamlet, and strive to encompass this character in different historical perspective.

Othello
Shakespeare's tragedies are normally characterized by a "predominant" hero, a tradition that began with the theater of Christopher Marlowe. The dominance of Othello is somewhat obscured at first, because it is Iago who initiates the course of tragic action, but, in terms of moral stature, ultimate decision, and emotional crisis, Othello himself is at the center of the picture.
